Being raised in a veterinary family, Dr. Michael was taught the values of hard work and ethical service to one’s community at a young age. Dr. Michael strives to maintain transparent dialogue with clients to allow them to make the best decisions for their beloved pets. He tries to uphold the highest standards of integrity while being honest, considerate, and compassionate towards both clients and patients.
Michael was born in Rocky Mount and attended Auburn University. He graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Animal Science in 2006 and a Masters of Agriculture in 2008 from Auburn University. He graduated from St. George’s University in 2012, where he received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation Michael completed an externship with an integrative practice where he was exposed to acupuncture and herbal therapy. Following his externship, Dr. Michael worked at a high volume spay/neuter shelter and a small animal practice rotating between multiple clinics and doing both general practice as well as overnight emergency rotations.
In 2016 Dr. Michael returned to his Rocky Mount roots to transition the business from his father, Dr. Stuart Hicks.
Associate Veterinarian
Hicks Animal Clinic is currently searching for 2 Associate Veterinarians to join our team. We are eager to find Veterinarians who will provide high quality, compassionate, veterinary care to our current and future patients. In the meantime, Hicks Animal Clinic will be utilizing Relief Veterinarians. Relief Veterinarians are utilized in clinics around the country to assist in providing veterinary care due to the increased demand for veterinary care and limited supply of Veterinarians.
